1. Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!

Accessories are a super easy and fun way to make your own personal style more exciting and trendier. It’s easy to take a simple outfit and tailor it to your style using only accessories. For example, your choice of jewelry can easily change the overall vibe of an outfit. An outfit using all silver jewelry typically adds an edgier, more e-boy aesthetic using chains and crosses with bigger chunkier and layered pieces. While all gold jewelry is more delicate and while it still incorporates some layering, it is daintier and simple giving your look a more Parisian or feminine style.

2. Assess Your Vibe

Take a look at your closet and find pieces that you love and wear a lot. Try modifying your wardrobe by adding similar pieces that match the aesthetic of your favorite items. You don’t necessarily need to get rid of all your clothes or buy all new ones but making small changes to your wardrobe will make you feel more confident in your personal style.

3. Silhouettes

To ensure that your outfits are flattering, focus on silhouettes that fit your body type. Don’t pair a flowy shirt with a flowy skirt. Try pairing loose bottoms with tight tops to give the illusion of a slimmer waist. For a grungier and skater type vibe, pair together loose and oversized pieces which add a more laid-back affect to the outfit. For a softer look go for smaller tees and A-line skirts.

4. Don’t buy things just to buy them

You can easily get caught up in the pressures of shopping, making it hard to put things down once you’ve already put them in the cart. However, try not to buy things that you will only wear once just because it looks cute on the rack. Make sure you truly love the clothes you are buying and keep in mind how they will be incorporated with the rest of your closet. Be especially focused on buying items that fit and make you confident. Don’t buy items that do not fit with the hopes that they will in the future. This can be a great waste of money and will lead to a buildup of unused pieces in your wardrobe.

5. Be Confident!

Your clothes should reflect you and your style. Don’t let others put you down or judge you for it. Fashion and style are amazing ways to express yourself, and if you are not confident in your clothes or your outfits you can’t properly share who you are. Be confident in who you are, and it will make you feel much more comfortable in your style!
